Wallis Endorsed by The Press-Enterprise and The San Bernardino Sun

Riverside and San Bernardino Newspapers Back Wallis

(Bermuda Dunes, CA) – Today, the Greg Wallis for Assembly Campaign announced newspaper editorial endorsements from The Press-Enterprise and The San Bernardino Sun.

“...We on balance believe California government could benefit from Wallis’ perspective,” said The Press-Enterprise. “Wallis describes himself as a pro-choice Republican who supports LGBT-rights. He also believes climate change is a serious problem that demands policy solutions.”

The San Bernardino Sun said “If elected, he would like to join the nonpartisan Problem Solvers Caucus so he could work across the aisle to tackle the problems of the state. Policywise, he favors reform of the California Environmental Quality Act to prevent abuses of the landmark environmental law to stifle development. He supports a nascent effort to establish a full-fledged California State University, Palm Desert. And, while he’s a critic of criminal justice reforms enacted over the last decade, he favors a greater focus on rehabilitation as a means of crime prevention. This is a sensible balance of policy positions.”

The new 47th Assembly District is made up of two counties. Riverside County makes up 76% of the voters in the district while 24% are in San Bernardino County. The largest city in the district is Yucaipa, followed by Palm Desert, Palm Springs, and Beaumont. The Republican candidate at the top of the ticket won it in 2016 and the Republican gubernatorial candidate carried it in the last midterm election in 2018.
